The nightclub Icon in Berlin's up-and-coming Prenzlauer Berg (Cantian Str. 15) takes its status as an underground music scene venue quite literally--it's located off a side street, across an unassuming lot, and down some stairs. As you descend into the cavernous club below, you'll be greeted by booming drum and bass, reggae, dance hall, and hip-hop beats spun by some of Berlin's and the world's finest DJs.

Icon's ambiance combines basement party grit with glamorous lighting, glittering light shows, luxurious lounge areas, and ample space on the dance floor to really move and enjoy the music. The club features nights hosted by the London label Ninja Tunes, as well as some live shows on the downstairs stage. The club has two bars: one downstairs close to the music, and a cozier side space when you need a break from dancing. Drink prices are fairly reasonable, and the cover charge ranges from 3 to 10 euros, depending on whether it's a weekday, weekend, or special event. Icon opens at 11:00 p.m. on weekdays and 11:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
