In late September, the most widely anticipated international music festival in Europe hits Berlin: Popkomm. This three-day-long festival features international musicians playing everything from electronica and techno to reggae and rock. Over 450 musical acts descend upon the city for days of nonstop music, guaranteed to shake down Berlin's remaining walls.

However, the festival is not just about the musical acts; it revolves around the music and entertainment industry as a whole. Daytime lectures, workshops, and discussions related to industry innovations and trends are as popular a draw as Popkomm's vibrant music. More than 800 exhibitors from 55 countries present lectures on topics from how pop relates to politics and economics, to communication.

While there are many fabulous elements to Popkomm, it's the artists -- from the widely acclaimed to the up and coming -- who earned this festival its nickname, "Nights of 1,000 Bands."
