Jewish Museum Berlin

The Jewish Museum Berlin (Juedisches Museum Berlin), in the Kreuzberg district, first opened its permanent exhibition in 2001 and is currently one of the most visited museums in Berlin. The museum's permanent exhibition "Two Millennia of German Jewish History" looks at German-Jewish culture and history from its earliest records through the present day. The museum also offers rotating art exhibits, site-specific contemporary art installations, and multimedia facilities in the Rafael Roth Learning Center.

Combining the site's original baroque building with new architecture by Daniel Libeskind, the museum's structure is as an artistic expression in itself. The new building has an unusual zigzag shape that incorporates meaningful "voids" (spaces of memorial and reflection), three symbolic axes, and a sculptural Garden of Exile. A beautiful glass courtyard features tree-like pillars of steel and is often used for museum lectures, concerts and other events.

The Jewish Museum is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m., and until 10 p.m. on Mondays.
