German Historical Museum - Berlin
The permanent collection of the German Historical Museum (Deutsches Historisches Museum) is located on Berlin's scenic Unter den Linde in an eighteenth century baroque building called the Zeughaus. In the 1700s, the Zeughaus was used as an arsenal for the Prussian Army; it later became a Prussian military museum, and from 1952 to 1990 housed the GDR's Museum for German History.

The Zeughaus now hosts the German Historical Museum's permanent exhibition, "German History in Images and Testimonials from Two Millennia," examining Germany's political, social, and economic history within a larger European context, with rooms arranged by era from the ninth century to the present. The German Historical Museum has a separate building, designed by the world-famous architect I. M. Pei, for displaying temporary and touring exhibitions.

The German Historical Museum is open every day from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.
