New National Gallery - Berlin
Housed in a modern glass building designed by Mies van der Rohe as a "temple of light and glass," the Neue Nationalgalerie (New National Gallery) comprises a vast collection of twentieth-century European painting and sculpture. Renowned works by Munch, Kirchner, Picasso, Klee, and many others are displayed here, and each year the museum features a number of special exhibitions.

Cubism, Expressionism, the Bauhaus, and Surrealism are well represented in the collection. One of the many highlights in the Expressionism exhibit is Kirchner's "Potsdamer Platz," a Berlin nightlife scene painted in 1914. For those that prefer sculpture, the New National Gallery has a tranquil sculpture garden where visitors can stroll among noted works ranging from figurative to abstract.
