Olympiastadion (Olympic Stadium)
Sports fans and history buffs alike will enjoy a trip to Olympiastadion (Olympic Stadium), Berlin's famous, historied sports stadium. Built in 1913 for the 1916 Olympics in Berlin -- which were never held because of World War I -- the stadium was totally renovated and expanded by Adolph Hitler for the 1936 Olympics. This was the site of Jesse Owens' historic four-gold-medal win.

The stadium has undergone several renovations since World War II: Today, the completely modernized stadium seats 76,000. It was home to the 2006 FIFA World Cup, and it continues to be used for national and international sports as well as large-scale concerts. Fascinating guided tours are available on non-event days, and visitors can ascend the historic Bell Tower (via glass elevator) for breathtaking views of the city.
