Konzerthaus Berlin
Originally built in 1821 with a neo-classical design by architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel, the Konzerthaus Berlin (formerly known as the Schauspielhaus at Gendarmenmarkt) was where Wagner once conducted his opera The Flying Dutchman, where Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 had its Berlin debut, and where Paganini and Liszt's works first reached Berlin's enthusiastic audiences.

Located in Berlin's Mitte district, the Konzerthaus is near the French Cathedral - Hugennot Museum and the German Cathedral (Deutscher Dom) in the picturesque Gendarmenmarkt square.

The Konzerthaus is known around the world as a cultural center for classical music, and as the home of the Konzerthausorchester (formerly known as the Deutsches Sinfonie-Orchester), its classical concerts range from medieval to cutting-edge contemporary works. The Konzerthaus hosts a variety of other ensembles and musical performances as well, producing close to 550 events each year in the Great Hall (Grosser Konzertsaal) and Chamber Music Hall (Kammermusiksaal).

The Konzerthaus Berlin also boasts its own gigantic and stunning Jehmlich organ, which is worth seeing, let alone hearing played. Guided tours are available every Saturday at 1 p.m.
