Alexanderplatz in Mitte - Berlin
Mitte, which translates to "middle," is the central section of Berlin and one of the city's most visited areas. The famous boulevard Unter den Linden is located here, where you'll find plenty of awe-inspiring historical architecture, including the Brandenburg Gate, the many museums of Museum Island, Berliner Dom, and much more. Mitte is also home to Alexanderplatz, a bustling square that was the site of demonstrations that eventually brought down the Berlin Wall in 1989.

After getting your fill of historical tours and neoclassical monuments, head over to the Scheunenviertel area of Mitte, a very charming, more residential area, where you'll find independent art galleries, fashionable boutiques, and plenty of sidewalk cafe culture.

More shopping and restaurants can be found in Hackescher Markt, an attractive corner of Mitte that is home to Hackesche Höfe, with its abundance of cafes and shops as well as cinema and theater. After hours, head to the street Oranienburger Straße for rows of hopping nightclubs and bars.
